The Landscape Professionals
A few months ago, I planted a few "Heavenly Blue" Morning Glory seeds around my lamp pole and I got tons of leaves, but no flowers. What happened?! Thank you. Katie
Hi Katie,Morning Glories can be a bit tricky, not because they are hard to grow, but because they go against our instincts as gardeners! For example, they love poor soil. If you fertilized them, or some of your lawn fertilizer made its way to them, they won't bloom. They'll make plenty of leaves, but no flowers. They also won't bloom if they don't get 6-8 hours of sunlight a day. But, they really don't like very hot summer weather, so if it's too hot and humid (like this summer) they will not bloom. They do enjoy the cooler months of September and October. Depending on when you planted the seeds, you may still see some blooms this year because they can take 3 months or more to bloom when started from seed. Be patient, don't fertilize and make sure they get full sunlight and before long you'll have plenty of flowers! Thank you for your question.
