I put a few praying mantis egg cases out on some forsythia branches, but a week later I noticed one missing and a day later all were gone. Any idea what could have happened? David
Dear David,If the egg cases were not tied to the Forsythia branches, they probably fell off onto the ground. Once on the ground, moisture, ants and other insects could easily destroy the egg cases. Next time, place nests about 3-4 ft up off the ground towards the inside of the shrub and securely fasten nests on the branches with twine.
